Baba and Bhit Islands
Overview
Baba and Bhit Islands are two small, densely populated islands in Karachi Harbour. Home to historic fishing communities, they offer a direct look into traditional boat building, net repair, and coastal residential life.
Getting There
From central Karachi, drive south to Kiamari (20 to 40 minutes). From the Kiamari docks, local passenger boats make the crossing to the islands in about 10 to 15 minutes.
Time to Spend
Plan for 2 to 3 hours, which covers the boat transfer and time to walk around the settlements.
When to Visit
Mornings and late afternoons are ideal for active fishing scenes and cooler weather. November to February offers the mildest climate. The islands and ferry docks get crowded during daily commute hours.
