About the Zoo

Opened in 1899, Karachi Zoo is the largest zoological garden in Pakistan. The grounds feature a long history and house a wide variety of animals, birds, and reptiles. Travellers and families generally visit to observe wildlife and walk through one of the city's established public spaces.

Getting There

The site is situated in the Garden West neighbourhood. From the city centre or Saddar, taking a taxi or using a ride-hailing service typically takes between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the flow of traffic.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend around 1.5 to 2 hours on-site, which allows adequate time to walk along the pathways and observe the enclosures at an unhurried pace.

When to Visit

The cooler winter months from November to February provide the most comfortable conditions for walking outside. Arriving in the morning or later in the afternoon helps avoid peak heat. The park becomes very crowded on weekends, public holidays, and during school breaks; weekday mornings are best for a quieter visit.
