What It Is

The FM- and TV-mast Kosztowy is a 358.7-meter transmission tower located in Mysłowice, just outside Katowice. Built to replace the former Katowice TV tower, it functions as a primary telecommunications site and a distinct vertical landmark across the regional skyline. Travellers interested in large-scale infrastructure and industrial engineering visit to observe the scale of the structure from ground level.

Getting There

From Katowice city centre, driving southeast by car or taxi takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Local public buses also connect central Katowice to the Kosztowy area in Mysłowice, with routes taking around 45 to 55 minutes.

Time to Allow

Allow 15 to 30 minutes for a visit. Because the site is an active technical installation without an observation deck or public indoor facilities, viewing is done entirely from surrounding roads and open spaces.

When to Visit

Visit during clear daylight hours to ensure full visibility of the mast from base to top. Avoid low-visibility conditions such as heavy fog or low cloud cover, which hide the upper sections. The area does not attract tourist crowds, making it easy to visit at any time.
