Jorasanko Thakur Bari
This site is the ancestral home of the Tagore family and the birthplace of the poet Rabindranath Tagore. The mansion is built in a traditional Bengali architectural style and currently functions as a museum and part of the Rabindra Bharati University campus. Visitors go here to see the living quarters, the family's art collection, and the historical environment that influenced Tagore's work.
Getting There
The mansion is located in North Kolkata. From the city centre, it is accessible via taxi or auto-rickshaw. Depending on the traffic conditions, the journey typically takes 20 to 40 minutes.

Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to walk through the rooms and view the exhibits within the complex.
When to Visit
The site can get crowded during public holidays and weekends. To avoid the largest crowds, visiting on a weekday morning is recommended. The most comfortable time to visit is during the cooler months from November to February.
