Haliaetum

Haliaetum consists of the ruins of an ancient Roman port located on the Adriatic coast near Koper. Visitors go here to see the archaeological remains of a maritime settlement, including the old quay and harbor facilities. Because the site is partially submerged, the structural remains are most visible during low tide.

Getting There

The site is located just outside the center of Koper. It is accessible via a short drive or a bicycle ride from the city center, typically taking about 5 to 10 minutes depending on the mode of transport.

Most visitors spend between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours exploring the ruins and the surrounding coastal area.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during low tide to ensure the harbor facilities are visible. It is recommended to visit during the spring or autumn to avoid the peak summer heat. The site does not typically experience the heavy crowds found in the city center.
