Tanjung Aru
Overview
Tanjung Aru is a public coastal strip featuring a roughly two-kilometer sandy beach south of central Kota Kinabalu, adjacent to the Shangri-La resort area. Travelers go to walk along the shoreline, view evening sunsets over the water, and browse the open-air food and retail stalls.

From central Kota Kinabalu, the location is reachable by car, ride-hailing service, or local bus. The drive typically takes between 10 and 15 minutes in standard traffic.
