Church of Our Lady of Remedy
Church of Our Lady of Remedy
The Church of Our Lady of Remedy is a Roman Catholic church completed in 1518. Located on the slopes of St. John's Hill, it serves as a religious site and a vantage point for viewing the city of Kotor from an elevated position.
Getting There
The church is situated on the hillside above the old town. To reach it from the city centre, visitors must walk up the stone paths of St. John's Hill. Depending on your pace, the ascent typically takes between 20 to 40 minutes.
Duration of Visit
Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to explore the church and the immediate surrounding area. This timeframe accounts for the time spent at the site itself, excluding the hiking time required to ascend and descend the hill.
When to Visit
Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat, as the climb is exposed to the sun. The site can become crowded during the peak summer tourist season. During winter, the paths may be slippery depending on weather conditions.
Nearby Attractions
Because this site is located on the edge of the historic center, it can be combined with other nearby landmarks within a short walking distance from the base of the hill:
- Kotor Cathedral (0.1km)
- Maritime Museum of Montenegro in Kotor (0.2km)
- Fortifications of Kotor (0.2km)
- Church of Saint Luke in Kotor (0.2km)
