Sveti Đorđe

(Saint George Island)

Sveti Đorđe is a natural island located in the Bay of Kotor near the town of Perast. The site contains a 12th-century monastery and an old noble cemetery. Travelers visit the island to see the monastic architecture and the historic burial grounds in a quiet setting.

Getting There

The island is accessible only by boat. From the center of Perast, visitors can hire local boat taxis or join organized tours. The trip across the water takes only a few minutes due to the short distance from the shore.

Time Allocation

Allow approximately one to two hours for a visit. This includes the boat transit and time to walk through the monastery grounds and the cemetery.

When to Visit

The island is best visited during the spring or autumn to avoid the peak summer heat. It can become crowded during the high tourist season, particularly on boat tours that group multiple stops together. Visiting in the early morning typically offers a quieter experience.
