About the Memorial Site

Šumarice Memorial Park is an expansive historic complex on the outskirts of Kragujevac. It marks the location where thousands of citizens lost their lives during World War II. Travellers visit to walk along the landscaped paths, view commemorative sculptures, and learn about the region's wartime history.

Getting There

The site is situated northwest of central Kragujevac. Reaching the entrance from the city centre takes about 10 minutes by taxi or local bus, or roughly 30 to 35 minutes on foot.

Time to Allow

Allow 1.5 to 2.5 hours for a visit. Because the monuments and markers are spread across broad open parkland, covering the grounds on foot requires ample time.

When to Visit

Spring and early autumn provide the most comfortable walking weather. Visiting during daylight hours is advised. The park rarely feels crowded on standard days, though attendance increases around memorial dates in October.
