Polish Aviation Museum
Polish Aviation Museum
Located on the site of the former Rakowice-Czyżyny Airport, this museum displays a collection of aircraft and aviation equipment. Visitors can walk across one of the world's oldest airfield grounds to view historical planes and learn about the development of flight in Poland and internationally.
Getting There
The museum is situated outside the city centre. You can reach it via local public transport, such as buses or trams, from the center of Kraków. The journey typically takes between 20 and 40 minutes depending on the traffic and the specific transit line used.
Visit Duration
Because the exhibits are spread across a large open-air airfield in addition to indoor hangars, allow approximately 3 to 4 hours to explore the grounds and the collections thoroughly.
When to Visit
The outdoor nature of the site makes it most accessible during the spring and summer months. Since much of the experience involves walking across the airfield, avoid visiting during heavy rain or extreme winter weather. The site can become crowded during public holidays and weekends.

You can combine a visit to the museum with other nearby sites in the area:
- Prądnik River (2km)
- Rakowicki Cemetery (2.8km)
- Museum of Photography in Krakow (2.9km)
