The Rudawa River

The Rudawa is a small river flowing through the Zwierzyniec district of Kraków before joining the Vistula. Travellers visit this area for the well-kept embankments and paved paths that allow for a quiet walk along the water, away from the denser tourist crowds of the Old Town.

Getting There

The river's urban stretch is accessible from the city centre via a short tram ride or a walk toward the Zwierzyniec district. Depending on your starting point in the centre, it typically takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach the riverside paths.

Duration of Visit

Depending on how far you choose to walk along the banks, allow 45 to 90 minutes to stroll the embankments and observe the surrounding greenery.

When to Visit

The area is most pleasant during the spring and summer months when the vegetation is lush. Early morning or late afternoon visits are recommended to avoid the midday heat. While the city centre is often congested, these riverside paths generally remain less crowded, though they are popular with locals during weekends.

Nearby Attractions

The river is located within walking distance of several major cultural sites. You can combine a walk here with visits to:

  • Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology (1.1km)
  • National Museum in Kraków (1.1km)
  • Smocza Jama (Dragon's Den) (1.2km)
  • Wawel Royal Castle (1.4km)
