Kokra
Overview
The Kokra is an Alpine river rising in the Karavanke mountains that flows into Kranj before joining the Sava River. A riverside path follows its clear waters through the canyon, offering a quiet natural environment right beside the town. Travellers visit for easy walking, shaded paths, and access to the riverbank.
Getting There
Access paths and stairs lead directly into the river canyon from Kranj's town centre, taking under five minutes on foot. Travellers arriving via Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU) can reach the city centre in roughly fifteen minutes by car or bus.

Set aside 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. This is enough time to walk the main path along the river, pause by the water, and return to the town above.
When to Go
Spring through autumn provides the most comfortable conditions. The shaded canyon floor is cooler during hot summer days. The area is rarely crowded, though locals use the route for daily exercise. Avoid the trail during or right after heavy rain when water levels rise and the ground becomes muddy.
