Batu Caves

Located in Gombak, this site is a limestone hill featuring a series of cave temples dedicated to Hindu deities. Visitors go here to see the large statue of Lord Murugan at the entrance and to climb the stairs into the main cave temple.

Getting There

The site is accessible from Kuala Lumpur city centre via the KTM Komuter train line or by ride-sharing apps. The journey typically takes between 20 to 40 minutes depending on the mode of transport and traffic conditions.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to climb the stairs, explore the main cave, and walk around the base of the hill.

When to Visit

Arriving early in the morning is recommended to avoid midday heat and larger crowds. The site gets very crowded during the Thaipusam festival. Visitors should be aware that monkeys are present on the stairs and may attempt to take food or belongings.
