Overview

The Ghana Armed Forces Museum is a military history museum housed inside the historic Kumasi Fort. Opened in 1953, it exhibits artifacts related to Ghana's military history, including weaponry, uniforms, photographs, and military equipment. Visitors go to study defense history inside a preserved fort building.

Getting There

Situated in central Kumasi, the site is reachable from the city centre in 5 to 15 minutes by taxi. Walking from central commercial streets takes about 10 to 15 minutes. From Kumasi Airport (KMS), the drive takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes.

Allow 1 to 2 hours to view the indoor exhibits and the fort grounds.

When to Go

Morning visits are best to avoid midday heat and central city traffic. The museum rarely gets crowded, and weekdays tend to be especially quiet.
