Ghanta Ghar
Ghanta Ghar
Ghanta Ghar is the oldest clock tower in Nepal, located in front of Rani Pokhari. Built with inspiration from London's Big Ben, the structure was rebuilt into its current form following a major earthquake. Travelers visit this landmark to see a piece of the city's architectural history and its position as a central point of reference in the urban landscape.
Getting There
The tower is situated in the heart of the city. From the central business district or nearby hubs, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or a walk. Depending on the starting point within the center, transit typically takes between 5 to 15 minutes.
Visit Duration
Since this is a landmark viewed primarily from the exterior, most visitors spend approximately 20 to 30 minutes observing the structure and the surrounding area.
When to Visit
The site is open to public view at all times. It can get crowded during peak commuting hours and during local festivals. To avoid the heaviest crowds, visiting in the early morning or late afternoon is recommended. The dry season from October to March generally offers the most stable weather for sightseeing.

Due to its central location, the clock tower can be combined with several other nearby sites on foot:
- Pancha Kashmiri Takiya Masjid (0.1km)
- Asan (0.2km)
- Ratna Park (0.3km)
- Indra Chowk (0.5km)
