Montbenon
Overview
Montbenon is a spacious public square and park in central Lausanne, situated immediately south of the Flon district. Travellers visit the area primarily for an easy walk along open lawns and pathways, as well as for clear viewpoints overlooking the city.
Getting There
Because of its central location, reaching the site from Lausanne's city centre is straightforward on foot. The walk from central shopping streets or nearby transit stops takes roughly 5 to 10 minutes.
Time to Spend
Allow 30 to 45 minutes for a visit. This provides sufficient time to walk through the grounds, sit on the benches, and take in the city scenery.
When to Visit
Clear weather in spring, summer, and autumn provides the best conditions for outdoor walks. The park can get moderately busy during weekday lunch hours and warm weekend afternoons when local residents gather on the lawns. Early mornings and weekdays are best for a quieter experience.
