Vio Island
Vio Island
Vio Island is a small landmass located off the coast of Viti Levu near Lautoka. Travelers visit this location to experience natural island scenery and a quiet environment away from the main urban areas of the city.
Getting There
Access to the island requires a boat trip from the Lautoka shoreline. Since it is located just off the coast, the transit time is short, typically taking a few minutes depending on the departure point and water conditions.
Duration of Visit
Depending on your preference for relaxation or exploration of the shoreline, a few hours are generally sufficient to spend on the island. Most visitors use the time for light walking and resting.
When to Visit
The island is best visited during the dry season to avoid heavy tropical rainfall. Visiting during the morning or late afternoon helps avoid the peak midday heat. As a smaller, less commercialized spot, it does not typically experience the same crowds as major tourist hubs in Fiji.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its proximity to the city, you can combine a trip to the island with a visit to other local sites in Lautoka. A notable nearby landmark is the Lautoka Jame Masjid, located approximately 2.3km from the mainland access area.
