Overview

Fort de Hollogne is a late-19th-century military fortification built between 1881 and 1884 as one of twelve forts protecting Liège. Constructed entirely from unreinforced concrete—unusual for its era—it appeals primarily to visitors interested in historic military architecture and engineering.

Getting There

Located west of central Liège, the site is reachable by car or taxi in approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Public buses and regional trains heading toward Grâce-Hollogne take roughly 30 to 45 minutes, followed by a walk to the site.

Allow 1 to 2 hours on site to walk through the grounds and observe the concrete structures.

When to Visit

Visit during daylight hours in dry weather, as navigating the outdoor paths and grounds requires good visibility. The site rarely experiences large crowds.
