About the Museum

Established in 1976 in the central Ingombota district of Luanda, the Museu Nacional de Antropologia houses collections dedicated to preserving and studying Angola's cultural heritage. Visitors go to explore exhibits on traditional Angolan societies, including regional artifacts, ceremonial masks, musical instruments, hunting tools, and utilitarian crafts.

Getting There

Located in the Ingombota neighborhood, the site sits directly in central Luanda. From downtown points, it is accessible on foot within 5 to 15 minutes. For travellers taking a taxi or rideshare across central Luanda, travel times remain short but vary depending on local traffic.

Time to Allow

Most visitors need between 1 and 2 hours to walk through the exhibition rooms and view the collections at a steady pace.

When to Visit

Visiting during the morning hours generally offers a quieter setting with fewer tour groups. Travelling during Angola's cooler dry season, from May to October, provides more comfortable weather for walking around the surrounding area.
