Camoes Garden

Camoes Garden is a 19th-century public park in Macau featuring a grotto garden dedicated to the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões. Visitors go here to see the commemorative monuments and experience a quiet green space within the urban environment. The site is part of a UNESCO World Heritage district, alongside the nearby Casa Garden and Old Protestant Cemetery.

Getting There

The garden is located in the central historic district. From the city center, it is accessible via local buses or taxis. Depending on your starting point, the trip typically takes 10 to 20 minutes.

Duration of Visit

Most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes walking through the grounds and viewing the grotto.

When to Visit

The park is open to the public daily. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. Like many central attractions in Macau, it can become crowded during public holidays and weekends.

Because of its central location, the garden can be combined with several other historic sites within walking distance:

  • St. Anthony's Church: 0.2km
  • Na Tcha Temple: 0.3km
  • Ruins of St. Paul's: 0.4km
