Navigating the Atoll

Majuro is characterized by a long, narrow strip of land. Because the city is stretched along a single main road, transport is linear and straightforward, though options are limited.

Primary Modes of Transport

• Taxis: The most reliable option for point-to-point travel. They win when you have luggage, are traveling at night, or need to reach specific government offices and clinics quickly.
• Rental Cars: Ideal for visitors who plan to explore the length of the atoll at their own pace. This is the best choice for those visiting multiple remote sites in one day.
• Walking: Feasible only for very short distances within the central business district. Due to the tropical heat and lack of continuous pedestrian infrastructure, it is not recommended for crossing districts.

Airport Transfers

Majuro International Airport (MAJ) is located on the western end of the atoll. To reach the city center:
