Aarah Island
Aarah is a small island located in the North Malé Atoll. Originally a natural island, its land area has been increased through land reclamation. Travelers visit this location to experience quiet island scenery and a slower pace of life away from the urban environment of the capital city.
Getting There
The island is accessible from Malé city centre via boat. Depending on the vessel used, the transit typically takes a short duration due to its proximity to the capital. Visitors arriving from abroad will first land at Velana International Airport (MLE) before transferring to the city or directly to the atoll.
Duration of Visit
A few hours are generally sufficient to walk around the island and observe the landscape. Because of its small size, there are limited inland activities, making it a suitable stop for a half-day excursion.
When to Visit
The island is best visited during the dry season to avoid heavy rainfall. To experience the quietest atmosphere, visiting during weekday mornings is recommended. Unlike the main capital, this area does not typically experience heavy crowds.
