Tunduru Gardens
Tunduru Gardens
Tunduru Gardens is a public urban park located in downtown Maputo. Designed by a British gardener in 1885, the space serves as a green area for walking and relaxation within the city center. The grounds include landscaped gardens and tennis courts, providing a break from the surrounding urban environment.
Getting There
The gardens are situated in the heart of the city center. Because of this central location, most visitors can reach the park within a few minutes by foot or a very short drive from nearby hotels and administrative buildings.
Duration of Visit
Depending on whether you are using the sports facilities or simply walking through the grounds, allow between 1 and 2 hours to explore the space.
When to Visit
The park is best visited during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon, to avoid the midday heat. Like most central public spaces, it can become more crowded during weekends and public holidays when local residents gather for leisure.
Nearby Attractions
Due to its central position, the gardens are within walking distance of several historical sites. You can combine a visit here with the following locations:
- Praça da Independência: 0.3km
- Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception: 0.3km
- Casa Amarela: 0.5km
- Maputo Fortress: 0.5km
