Botero Plaza

This open-air plaza in Medellín's old town serves as a public gallery for 23 oversized bronze sculptures donated by artist Fernando Botero. Visitors go here to view the sculptures' characteristic voluminous style and to observe the surrounding architecture of the city center.

Getting There

The plaza is located within the city centre. It is accessible via the Medellín Metro, specifically the Santa Tereza or Parque Berrío stations. Depending on the starting point within the downtown area, it is a short walk of a few minutes.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the plaza and view the sculptures. If you intend to enter the adjacent museums, you will need several additional hours.

When to Visit

The plaza is an open public space. It often becomes crowded with tourists and locals during midday and weekends. Visiting in the early morning typically avoids the largest crowds.
