Founded by Franciscan friars in 1536, this site was the first institution of higher learning in the Americas. It served as a center for educating and training Indigenous peoples, specifically focusing on the development of interpreters. Visitors go here to explore the intersection of colonial education and Indigenous history within Mexico City.
