What to Expect

Fontvieille is a district on Monaco's southwestern Mediterranean coast. Built largely on reclaimed land, it features residential streets, shopping areas, and a marina. Travellers visit to walk along the harbor or see Stade Louis II, home to AS Monaco. It also serves as a transport hub with a heliport connecting to Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE).

Getting There

From central Monaco, reaching the district on foot takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Local buses connect to the area in about 10 minutes.

Time to Allow

Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk around the port and streets. If attending an event at Stade Louis II, set aside 3 to 4 hours.

When to Go

Daytime is best for walking and shopping. Match days at the stadium cause noticeable congestion and larger crowds. Summer brings warmer weather and more tourists, while spring and autumn offer cooler walking conditions.

Nearby Attractions

The district can easily be paired with several nearby sites:

  • Museum of Stamps and Coins (0.4 km)
  • Napoleon Museum (0.4 km)
  • Prince's Palace (0.4 km)
  • Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate (0.5 km)
