Sandals Cay

Sandals Cay is a small private island located off the coast of Montego Bay, Jamaica. It is owned by the Sandals Royal Caribbean resort and is named after the song "Kokomo." Visitors go there to access a secluded white sand beach and swim in the surrounding waters.

Getting There

The island is accessible only via boat shuttle from the Sandals Royal Caribbean resort. From Montego Bay city centre, travellers first reach the resort by car, then take a short boat trip to the cay. The total transit time depends on traffic in the city, but the boat crossing itself takes only a few minutes.

Duration of Visit

Most visitors spend a few hours on the island, typically arriving in the morning and returning to the main resort by the afternoon. Because the island is small and primarily used for lounging and swimming, a half-day visit is generally sufficient.

When to Visit

The island is best visited during the day to take advantage of the sunlight and water activities. Like most Caribbean destinations, the peak tourist season occurs during the winter months. Because it is a private island reserved for resort guests, capacity is managed, though it can feel busier during peak holiday periods.
