Buceo
What It Is
Buceo is a coastal neighborhood in Montevideo situated along the Rio de la Plata. Visitors go primarily for a relaxed walk along the beach promenade, to view the marina, and to browse the area's shopping streets.
Getting There
From the city center, local buses run eastward toward the coast, taking around 20 to 30 minutes. A taxi or rideshare from downtown takes roughly 15 minutes.
Time to Spend
Allow 1 to 2 hours for a stroll along the waterfront and nearby streets, or 3 to 4 hours if you plan to dine in the neighborhood.
When to Visit
Late afternoon is the most practical time for a walk, particularly during the summer months (December to March) when the weather is mild. The waterfront draws substantial crowds on sunny weekends. In winter, strong coastal winds are common.
