Girgaum Chowpatty is a public urban beach situated near Malabar Hill in Mumbai, along the coastline known as the Queen's Necklace. Travellers visit to experience a lively local atmosphere, take an evening walk by the Arabian Sea, and observe everyday city life away from commercial indoor venues.

Getting There

From South Mumbai's central areas such as Fort or Churchgate, the beach is reachable by taxi in approximately 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic. Charni Road suburban railway station is located within short walking distance.

Allow around 1 to 2 hours. This provides sufficient time to walk along the shoreline, sit by the waterfront, and observe the surroundings.

When to Visit

The practical time of day to visit is during late afternoon and sunset, when temperatures drop. The cooler months between November and February offer the most comfortable weather. The beach becomes very crowded on weekend evenings and during public holidays.
