Momine Khatun Mausoleum

This 12th-century structure is a funerary monument built in memory of the mother of a local ruler. Visitors go here to study the architectural style of the period, specifically the ten-sided exterior decorated with detailed geometric brickwork and patterns.

The mausoleum is located within the city of Nakhchivan. From the city centre, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or a walk, typically taking less than 10 minutes depending on your starting point.

When to Visit

The site is outdoors, so visiting during the spring or autumn avoids the extreme temperatures of the region. Early morning or late afternoon light is often better for viewing the textures of the brickwork. It does not typically experience heavy crowds.
