High Line
Overview
The High Line is a linear park created on a former elevated freight rail line in Manhattan. Planted with trees, shrubs, and flowers, the elevated walkway runs from the Meatpacking District through Chelsea to 30th Street. Visitors come to walk above street traffic and observe city architecture along a landscaped path.
Getting There
From Midtown Manhattan, taking the subway or walking takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes to reach one of the street access points along 10th and 11th Avenues.
Time to Spend
Allow 45 to 90 minutes to walk the full length at a steady pace, depending on how often you pause to rest on benches.
When to Visit
The walkway gets crowded on weekends and warm afternoons, making movement slow. Early weekday mornings offer the quietest conditions. Spring and autumn provide moderate temperatures and seasonal foliage.

- Whitney Museum of American Art (1km): Located near the southern entrance.
- Madison Square and Madison Square Park (1.6km): Situated directly east across the neighborhood.
- 4 Times Square (1.8km): Positioned to the northeast in central Manhattan.
- Midtown Manhattan (1.9km): Conveniently reached from the northern end of the path.
