Rio Nuevo is a river in the Saint Mary parish that flows into the Caribbean Sea at Rio Nuevo Bay. Visitors go here for the natural river environment and to visit the site of a 1658 battle between Spanish and English forces, which was the largest conflict of its kind in Jamaica.

The site is located outside the main center of Ocho Rios. Access is typically via taxi or rental car. The drive from the town center takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
