What It Is

Kunstnernes Hus is an artist-run exhibition space showcasing contemporary visual art from Norway and abroad. Visitors interested in modern art and architecture come to view rotating exhibitions and examine the building itself, an established landmark of Nordic functionalism situated opposite the Palace Park.

Getting There

The venue is located in central Oslo and is a 10- to 15-minute walk from the city centre and the Nationaltheatret transport hub. Local trams and buses also stop nearby along Wergelandsveien and around Holbergs plass.

Time to Allow

Set aside 1 to 1.5 hours to view the active exhibitions and explore the interior spaces.

When to Visit

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are generally quiet. Weekends and exhibition openings bring larger crowds. Because the galleries are indoors, the venue is suitable to visit in any season.
