Centrum
Centrum
Centrum is the historic old town district of Paramaribo. Travelers visit this area to see its well-preserved heritage architecture and colonial-era buildings. Due to its architectural significance, the district was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.
Getting There
As this district constitutes the central core of the city, no additional travel from the city centre is required. Most visitors arrive via taxi or local transport from Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport (PBM) and can navigate the area on foot.
Suggested Duration
Depending on the pace of exploration, allow three to five hours to walk through the streets and observe the historic facades. Those visiting the museums within the district may need a full day.
When to Visit
The area is best explored during the morning or late afternoon to avoid the peak midday heat. Like most central business and shopping districts, it can become crowded during weekday working hours and on weekends when local shopping activity increases.

- Independence Plaza: 0km
