Established in 1972, this is the only zoo located in Paramaribo. It houses a variety of animal species and serves as a primary site for wildlife viewing within the city. Visitors typically go here to see local and exotic animals in a managed environment.

The zoo is located in the Rainville district. From the city centre, it is most practical to take a taxi or a ride-sharing service. The trip generally takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
