About the Park

Champ de Mars is a public green space stretching between the École Militaire and the Eiffel Tower. Historically used as a military training ground, the site is now laid out with open lawns and pedestrian avenues. Travellers visit to walk the grounds, rest outdoors between museum stops, or view the Eiffel Tower from its base.

Getting There

From central Paris, take Metro Line 8 to École Militaire or the RER C to Champ de Mars–Tour Eiffel station. The transit trip generally takes between 20 and 30 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan for 30 to 45 minutes to walk through the grounds. If you plan to stop for a picnic or rest on the grass, allocate 1 to 2 hours.

When to Visit

The park gets crowded on sunny afternoons and warm summer evenings. If you prefer quiet conditions and fewer people, visit in the early morning. During rainy weather or winter months, portions of the lawns may be fenced off for maintenance.
