The Sacré-Cœur is a Byzantine-style basilica located at the highest point of the city on Montmartre hill. Visitors go here to see the white stone architecture, the interior of the church, and the panoramic view of Paris from the hilltop. A statue of Joan of Arc is located directly in front of the building.
Getting There
The basilica is located in the 18th arrondissement. From the city centre, you can reach it via the Metro (Line 2 or 12). Depending on your starting point, the journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes. Be aware that the site is on a steep hill, requiring a walk up stairs or a ride on the funicular to reach the entrance.

Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to explore the interior of the basilica, view the surrounding plaza, and observe the city skyline from the steps.
When to Visit
The site gets crowded throughout the day, particularly around the front steps and the viewing platforms. Visiting early in the morning helps avoid the largest crowds. It is accessible year-round, though the open hilltop is exposed to wind and rain during winter months.
