Prosfygika, Patras

Prosfygika is a residential neighborhood in the southern part of Patras. It was established by refugees from Asia Minor following the 1922 population exchange after the Greco-Turkish War. Visitors go here to walk through the streets and observe the architectural and social history associated with the settlement of these displaced populations.

The neighborhood is located a short distance from the city center. Depending on your starting point, you can reach it via a local bus or a taxi. The trip typically takes about 5 to 10 minutes from the central districts.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the area and take in the historic atmosphere of the neighborhood.

When to Visit

The area is best visited during the day for better visibility of the street layouts and buildings. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking in Patras due to the milder temperatures. It does not typically experience the same level of tourist crowding as the main city squares.
