Opened in 1898, Perth Zoo houses around 1,200 animals across 160 species alongside a diverse botanical collection. Travellers visit to see Australian fauna and international wildlife in naturalistic habitats, making it a reliable destination for families.

Getting There

From central Perth, take a public ferry across the Swan River to South Perth, followed by a short walk (15 to 20 minutes total). Alternatively, buses or taxis from the city centre take 10 to 15 minutes.

Allow 2.5 to 4 hours to walk through the exhibits and gardens. Visitors with young children may want half a day to cover the grounds comfortably.

When to Visit
