What It Is and Why to Visit

Vattanac Capital is a 39-story, 187-meter skyscraper in central Phnom Penh. As Cambodia's second-tallest building, it combines a hotel with commercial spaces. Travelers visit primarily to observe panoramic views of the city grid and the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers from its upper levels.

Getting There

Located in the city centre near the main train station, the building is a 5- to 10-minute tuk-tuk or taxi ride from the riverside area. It is also reachable on foot from surrounding central streets in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. This gives you enough time to head up to the high floors, take in the viewpoint, and walk through the lower concourse.

When to Go

Late afternoon just before sunset allows you to see the city in daylight and evening lighting. Upper public areas tend to get crowded around dusk. Clear days offer the best visibility, whereas heavy rain during the monsoon season reduces sightlines.

What to Combine It With

You can pair a visit with several nearby destinations:

  • Central Market (0.5km): A large indoor market reachable on foot.
  • Al-Serkal (0.9km): Situated less than a kilometer to the north.
  • Boeung Kak (1.1km): A short tuk-tuk trip northwest.
  • National Museum of Cambodia (1.4km): A short ride south near the riverfront.
