Háj Nature Reserve

Háj is a protected mixed oak-hornbeam forest situated on a steep slope overlooking the Berounka River. Visitors go here to walk along forest trails that follow the riverbank and to observe the local woodland ecosystem.

Getting There

The reserve is located outside the center of Plzeň. Access is typically via local roads or regional transport toward the Berounka river valley. Depending on the mode of transport and traffic, the journey from the city center takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes.

Duration of Visit

Allow 2 to 4 hours to explore the forest trails and walk along the river. The time required depends on the length of the hiking loop chosen.

When to Visit

The area is best visited during the spring and autumn to see the seasonal changes in the oak and hornbeam foliage. Morning visits are recommended for quieter conditions. The site does not typically experience heavy crowds, though it is more frequented on weekends.
