Overview

Zoo Pilsen is a zoological garden situated along the Radbuza River in Plzeň. Established in 1926, it is the second-oldest zoo in the Czech Republic. Visitors come to see a wide range of animal enclosures and botanical areas spread across large outdoor grounds.

Getting There

Located north of the city centre, the grounds are reachable by public tram in about 10 to 15 minutes. Walking from central Plzeň takes around 25 minutes along pedestrian and riverside paths.

Recommended Duration

Plan for 3 to 4 hours to explore the main paths and animal exhibits. If you prefer a leisurely visit covering the entire area, set aside half a day.

When to Visit

Weekday mornings are the quietest time to visit, when animal activity is high and foot traffic is light. The park gets crowded on weekends and sunny summer afternoons. Spring and early autumn offer mild temperatures for outdoor walking.
