Port Mathurin experiences a tropical maritime climate divided into two main seasons. The town sits on the northern coast, partially sheltered from southern trade winds by central hills, though regional weather shapes transport and activity across the island.

May to October: Cool, dry, and windy

Winter brings cooler weather, with temperatures typically between 21°C and 26°C. Southeast trade winds blow consistently, keeping humidity low and rainfall sparse. This is the prime season for hiking inland toward Mont Lubin, walking around the harbour, and shopping at the Saturday morning street market. Evenings can feel cool enough to require a light layer.

November to April: Warm, humid, and cyclonic
