Overview

The Old Town Hall is a historic municipal complex situated directly on Prague's central square. Travellers visit to examine Gothic architectural elements, tour the preserved council chambers and underground Romanesque-Gothic cellars, and look out over the historic center from the viewing gallery atop the tower.

Getting There

Located in the heart of Old Town, the site is accessible on foot from most central areas. From the Staroměstská metro and tram stop, it is roughly a 5-minute walk along Kaprova street. Walking from Wenceslas Square takes approximately 10 minutes along pedestrian routes.

Time to Allow

Allow 1 to 1.5 hours to tour the interior halls, explore the historical cellars beneath the building, and access the tower viewing platform.

When to Visit

The area surrounding the building gets heavily crowded, particularly from midday to late afternoon, during summer, and around major holiday periods. Arriving early in the morning or later in the evening offers a quieter visit with fewer tour groups in the square.
