Overview

Farol da Ponta do Lobo is a coastal lighthouse on Santiago Island near Praia, Cape Verde. Built in 1887, it is the second-oldest lighthouse on the island. The landmark features a nine-meter trapezoidal tower standing next to the keeper's quarters. Visitors go to view 19th-century maritime architecture and the open coastal landscape.

Getting There

The lighthouse sits about 11 kilometres east of central Praia. Reaching the site requires a taxi or rental car, taking roughly 20 to 30 minutes from downtown via local roads.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend 30 to 45 minutes on site, which is sufficient time to explore the exterior of the tower, see the quarters, and look out over the ocean.

When to Visit

Go during daylight hours for safe navigation along the coast. Late afternoon provides cooler temperatures. The location is rarely crowded due to its position outside the main city.
