Zbojnícky Castle
Known as the "Robbers' Castle," this site consists of the ruins of a medieval fortification located above the village of Ruská Nová Ves in the Slanské Hills of eastern Slovakia. Visitors go here to explore the old castle grounds and the surrounding mountain landscape via a designated hiking trail.
Getting There
The ruins are located outside the city of Prešov. To reach the site, travel to the village of Ruská Nová Ves and follow the mountain trail leading upward. Depending on the mode of transport from the city centre, the journey typically takes around 45 to 60 minutes, followed by a short hike to reach the ruins.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours for the visit. This includes the time required to hike up the trail, explore the ruins, and return to the village.
When to Visit
The site is best visited during the spring, summer, and autumn when the hiking trails are clear and accessible. Daylight hours are recommended for safety on the mountain paths. This location generally does not experience heavy crowds compared to major city attractions.
