Markovi Kuli

Markovi Kuli is a medieval fortress site located on a granite hill overlooking Prilep, North Macedonia. The ruins include the remains of an old fortification and a tower named tower associated with a medieval Serbian prince. Visitors go here to explore the archaeological remains and the natural rock formations of the hill.

Getting There

The site is located outside the city center of Prilep. Access involves a climb up steep granite slopes. Depending on the mode of transport and the starting point in the city, the journey typically takes a short drive followed by a walk uphill.

Time Allocation

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to ascend the hill, explore the ruins of the fortress and the tower, and return to the base.

When to Visit

The site is outdoors and exposed on a rocky hill, so visiting during the spring or autumn is advisable to avoid extreme temperatures. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday sun. The site does not typically experience heavy crowds.
