Ulpiana
What It Is
Ulpiana is an archaeological park preserving the excavated ruins of an ancient Roman settlement. The open-air site features exposed stone foundations, basilica remains, ancient roadway layouts, and remnants of defensive structures dating to the Roman and early Byzantine eras.
Getting There
The ruins lie south of Pristina, about 10 kilometres from the city centre. Reaching the site by car or taxi usually takes 15 to 20 minutes along the route toward Gračanica.
Time to Spend
Allow roughly 45 to 90 minutes to walk the pathways connecting the main excavation sectors.
When to Visit
The grounds are fully exposed with very little tree cover, so spring and autumn provide the most comfortable walking weather. In summer, aim for early morning or late afternoon to avoid direct sun and heat. The site rarely sees heavy crowds, so visitors can expect a quiet experience throughout the week.
