Overview

The Mosque of Muderis Ali Efendi is an Ottoman religious site constructed between 1543 and 1581, making it one of the oldest mosques in Kosovo. Situated at the base of the hill below the Catholic cathedral, it offers travellers a direct look at Prizren's multi-faith architectural heritage in an active neighbourhood setting.

Getting There

The site is located in the old quarter of Prizren. From the central hub at Shadervan Square, walk south toward the hillside for approximately two to three minutes. Travellers arriving via Pristina International Airport (PRN) can take regional transport to Prizren before reaching the site on foot.

Plan to spend 15 to 30 minutes here. This provides sufficient time to view the exterior stonework, courtyard, and interior if it is accessible to visitors.

When to Visit

Visit during daylight hours between daily Islamic prayer services to avoid disrupting worship. Modest attire covering shoulders and knees is appropriate. The site rarely experiences heavy congestion, though general tourist volume in town increases during the summer months.
