Overview

Montmorency Falls is a waterfall on the Montmorency River on the border of Beauport and Boischatel. Located 13 kilometers from Old Quebec, it offers travellers views of a large river cascade close to the urban area without requiring a long trip into remote wilderness.

Getting There

Driving or taking a taxi from Quebec City center takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Public transit buses also run regularly from downtown, taking approximately 35 to 45 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan for 1.5 to 2.5 hours on site to walk the trails and observe the falls from both the base and the upper crest.

When to Visit

The site gets crowded during peak summer and fall foliage seasons, particularly between midday and mid-afternoon. Arrive early in the morning or later in the day to avoid tour groups. Winter visits feature frozen spray cones at the base, but walking paths can be icy.
